Hi, I'm Joseph!

 I am the Founder and Principal Consultant at Novo People Consulting. I spent over 20 years as an internal HR leader for various organizations where I successfully partnered with senior leaders to build cultures of high trust. Throughout my career, I have worked across industries including insurance, legal, software development, environmental, and manufacturing. My natural curiosity allows me to adapt quickly to new industries and cultures.

What drives me is partnering with senior leaders to create a great employee experience by evaluating areas where employees feel connected or disengaged from the company. I have established HR departments from scratch, overhauled policies and procedures including entire handbooks, implemented ATS and HRIS platforms, navigated complex compliance across 27 states, counseled managers and HR teams through complicated employment issues, developed HR strategic plans, and served as a trusted advisor on senior leadership teams.

Most of my career has been at small to mid-sized employers where, by default, HR had to pivot quickly between transactional and transformational roles. I am comfortable rolling up my sleeves and doing administrative work and stepping back into the strategic seat to drive change.

In my spare time, I work on home renovations, go running, collect vinyl records, read leadership books, listen to leadership podcasts, watch movies, and travel. I am also a fan of the Mariners and love playing board games with friends. My husband and I live in Seattle and we are eagerly awaiting the day we can rescue a couple of dogs.
